Moloa'a Bay is considered as a real gem in most travel guides. In the bay just about 30 homes are located on large private plots. In only a few of them residentials are living all year round. You will find perfect privacy and seclusion for a relaxing vacation. Litte more than 100 yards away the warm Pacific ocean invites you for a swim, for snokeling (colorful tropical fish waiting for you!) or just for relaxing in the sand. On the northern end of the bay, a small hiking trail leads over some cliffs to a bird sanctuary. Feel free to watch albatross and other sea-birds resting or hunting with incredible flight maneuvers. If you are lucky (winter season only) you can see whales off the shore coming to the Hawaiian archipel for the winter. A few minutes towards Hanalei you will find the Kilauea lighthouse located in another bird sanctuary. From there you will have spectacluar views of the - in that area - mostly quite rough Pacific ocean smashing onto the cliffs. About 2 miles south of Anahola where you will find another, quite protected, large beach perfect for body-boarding, a bike path starts (parking signs on Kuhio highway). The path leads all the way through Kapa'a to Lydgate park and is very nice for biking and walking (bike rentals in Kapa'a). You will have unforgettable views of the beaches like Donkey beach and the tropical landscape. In Moloa'a Bay there are no restaurants or shopping possibilities. In Kapa'a (about 20 minutes drive) you will find American and international restaurants of all styles. Don't miss Scottys Beachside BBQ with really spectacular seating (ocean view from all tables and great BBQ food). In Princeville and Hanalei (about 30 minutes drive) more dining and shopping opportunities are waiting! For shopping we recommend Foodland in Kapa'a and Princeville. You will find whatever you need to make your stay comfortable for reasonable prices. Don't forget to apply for a Maikai-Card at your first visit (info-desk in the entrance area) which offers you big discounts on many items! |
